Info About the Song
Let’s be honest; Quokkas are just plain adorable. The song Quokka This Quokka That aims to capture some of the fun and playful characteristics of the Quokka. It may not be be the most educational song from Caper Kids Music but it’s a whole lot of fun. Here are some quick facts that you’ll find in the Curiosity Capers video above
Quokkas are known for their happy faces and love to take selfies.
They are found in a small coastal area of Western Australia, with Rottnest Island being their most famous habitat.
Rottnest Island was named "Rat's Nest Island" by a Dutch explorer who mistook quokkas for giant rats.
Mainland quokkas face dangers from wild predators like foxes and feral cats.
Rottnest Island's isolation protects quokkas and their population thrives there.
Quokkas are small wallabies, not rats, and are quite social and curious.
While friendly, they are wild animals and should not be threatened.
Habitat loss and human interaction pose threats to quokkas on Rottnest Island.
Human food is unhealthy for quokkas, especially salty food that dehydrates them.
Quokkas can survive for a month without water due to their plant-based diet and fat stores in their tails. (Their smile might not be from happiness, but let's not dwell on that!)
